Dear Kadoka Area,

I hope you all had an excellent Fourth of July holiday. Now, we look up, and students will be back on campus for fall athletics in only three weeks. As the school’s principal, I see this training as an opportunity to renew and remind our students that they are valued and appreciated. The project we are currently working on with coaches, and the athletic department is the idea that all students need to feel like they are recognized when they arrive back for practice.

This year, we hope to reach out and have a personal note to all our fall activity participants as a setup for the start of the year. We want students to know they have someone who cares available as we try to build trust with the students and shape our student body culture. As well as specifically reach out to new families in the district early in the school year. The act of reaching out to so many families, admittedly, is a bit intimidating, but at the same time, how we set the tone for our students will be how the engine runs through the year.

I am enjoying the idea of kids back in the halls, and I look forward to that day in just over a month. Enjoy the rest of your summer. School is just around the corner.

Sincerely,
Robert Lukens
